Youth Group Activities
Group information sessions, workshops, activities and programs that help young people learn, build confidence and make friends.
Who this is for
Young people new to Australia (aged 12–25) from refugee and migrant backgrounds who want to get involved, build skills and connect with others outside of school.
What we offer
- Study Centre Program – Weekly study skills & homework support in the Mt Druitt office, Wednesdays (4 – 6 pm) during school terms.
- Uni Taster Program This annual program (held in October) is designed to assist prospective students in exploring various university pathways, experiencing the university environment, and gaining insight into the diverse range of courses available. Participants will have the opportunity to delve into their personal interests and engage with academic experts throughout the process.
- School-2-Work program – designed to develop essential employability skills, including resume writing, cover letter preparation, interview techniques, job search strategies, and job application processes. Sessions are conducted on the third Tuesday of each month at the Mt Druitt office from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Additionally, we provide complimentary certificate training programs in various areas such as Barista training, Customer Service, Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG), First Aid, Food Hygiene, hospitality, and more.
- Blacktown Emerging Leaders & Advocate – BELA (BELA is a 12-week youth leadership program that aims at mentoring and coaching future youth leaders, by offering structured youth leadership programs that consist of one-on-one mentoring, leadership development, personal growth, community engagement, career planning, and a final youth-led leadership project)
- Other Group Information Sessions/Workshops – Cyber safety and online wellbeing, Youth Voice, Social & Recreational programs, civic participations & Volunteering).
