Volunteer
Give back to your local community and build new skills along the way.
How to apply
Volunteering is a great way to help SydWest if you are passionate about our mission and would like to give back to your local community. It’s a positive way to use the skills you already have, develop new ones, meet new people and add experience to your resume. Every volunteer role has a clear role description, so you can apply for roles that suit you, and we can provide referees for job applications where your supervisor agrees.
To apply, complete the volunteer application form below. If you have questions, call us on (02) 9621 6633 or email info@sydwestms.org.au.

What to expect when you apply
After you apply, successful applicants receive a phone call or email from our HR staff and a short initial interview by phone. Depending on the role, a formal interview may follow. We then complete Police and Working with Children checks, and approved applicants are invited to a mandatory induction session.
Things to consider before applying
- Volunteers must be aged 18 years or older.
- You’ll need to commit to regular attendance as set out in the role.
- You must agree to a National Police Check and hold (or be willing to apply for) a current Working with Children Check.
- You’ll need to take part in mandatory induction and any role-specific training.
Please note that volunteering with us is unpaid and does not necessarily lead to paid employment. Volunteers are welcome to apply for paid roles with SydWest if a suitable position becomes available.
Why it matters
Volunteers are essential to the work of all not-for-profits, and SydWest is no different. Our volunteers are valued members of the team, supporting everything from events and playgroups to social support and office work — helping us reach more people across our community while gaining real experience themselves.
