Housing and Tenancy Support

What we offer

Our Homelessness Project helps you stay housed and feel confident as a tenant:

• One-on-one appointments to help with forms, applications, bonds, and other housing issues
• Information sessions so you understand your rights and responsibilities as a tenant, and what housing services are available
• Links to housing support networks to help you find suitable, stable, secure accommodation
• Advocacy on your behalf, including working with local real estate agents so they understand the barriers refugees and migrants can face
• The Rent Choice Youth Program — a rent subsidy from the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) that helps young people lease in the private rental market and build independence over time

This project is delivered in partnership with Mission Australia and is funded by the Department of Communities and Justice through the Going Home Staying Home Program.

How it works

1. Contact our Housing Project Worker to talk about your situation.
2. We meet with you one-on-one to understand your needs and help with forms, applications, and advice.
3. We connect you with the right support and accommodation, and advocate for you along the way.

Can I get this?

The Homelessness Project supports eligible people from non-English speaking backgrounds in the Blacktown LGA. For the Rent Choice Youth Program, you may be eligible if you are aged 16 to 24, are homeless or at risk of homelessness, are eligible for social housing, are an Australian citizen or permanent resident, are able to maintain a tenancy with support, and are willing to take part in education, training, or employment and to work with your support provider. If you are not sure, just contact us and we will help you work it out.
