Inclusive Employment Pathways

Training and support to help newly arrived and CALD jobseekers — including people with disability — move confidently into work.

Who this is for

Unemployed refugees, migrants and members of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities who’ve lived in Australia for less than five years, and CALD jobseekers living with disability who want a supported path to employment.

What we offer

  • SETS Employment Pathway Program — prepares you to navigate the job market independently, building knowledge of Australian workplace culture through ongoing training and support. Activities include job-preparedness training, workshops, information sessions and referrals, and we help connect you with suitable employment services and employers.
  • Employment Accelerator – brings people from diverse and newly arrived backgrounds together to meet employers face to face and take real steps towards a job.
  • BackSwing — an 18-week program (one day per week) at Blacktown and Mt Druitt, funded by the Federal Government. It delivers practical, employment-ready skills for CALD participants living with any disability, with inclusion at its core, helping you move confidently toward meaningful work and long-term career pathways.

About Employment Accelerator

This is for people in Greater Western Sydney who are looking for work, especially if you have recently arrived in Australia or speak a second language. Our Employment Accelerator events are a good fit if you want to meet local employers in person and skip the usual application process — whether you are just starting out or already have qualifications.

What we offer

We run Employment Accelerator events that bring jobseekers and local employers together in one place:

  • Meet local employers face to face and have the chance to be interviewed on the day
  • Connect with training organisations and learn about qualifications, including some fee-free options
  • Get help to build your work-ready and employability skills
  • Connect with organisations that can recognise your prior learning or qualifications
  • Share your details for future openings if you do not find a role on the day

Events have featured a range of industries including Health and Care, Transport and Logistics, Warehousing, Retail, and Construction. One stream focuses on careers in Home Care, supporting seniors to live independently at home.

How it works

  1. Register for an upcoming Employment Accelerator event.
  2. Come along, meet employers and training providers, and register your interest in the jobs that suit you.
  3. If a role is not available straight away, share your details so employers can contact you about future openings.

If you are coming to a Home Care event, it helps to bring your CV or resume, your driver’s licence, registration and insurance, and any certificates for relevant qualifications. If you need a Police Check or Working with Children Check, we can help you apply.

Can I get this?

These events are open to people in Greater Western Sydney looking for work, and are designed to support people from culturally diverse and newly arrived backgrounds. Qualifications are not essential for many roles. For Home Care work, employers usually look for a driver’s licence and an insured vehicle, a smartphone and internet access, availability of at least three days a week, and current Police, Working with Children, and First Aid checks.
