Youth Services
New to Australia and aged 12 to 25? We support young people to make friends, settle into school and community life, and work towards their goals for study, training, and work.
Who this is for
Our youth programs are for young people aged 12 to 25 who:
- Are from refugee and migrant backgrounds
- Have lived in Australia for less than five years
- Live in the Blacktown or Penrith local government areas.
- Are on a Permanent Visa subclass or in the Humanitarian Stream
If you are new to Australia and want to build friendships, find your way around Australian systems, and plan for your future, our team is here to support you, speaking in your language.
What we offer
Through the Youth Transition Support Program (YTSP) and the Youth Development Project (YDP), we offer One-on-One Casework covering:
- Education & Employment – study centre program, school/TAFE/Uni enrolment, training, apprenticeship, career planning, job searching, résumés, and interview preparation.
- Health & Social Inclusion – accessing the healthcare system, referrals to psychologists, counsellors, sexual health, or mental health services, goal setting and advocacy, and crisis intervention & safety planning.
- Financial Support – accessing government benefits, assistance with forms & applications, soccer registrations, emergency relief and material aid.
- Legal & Justice Matters – referral to legal assistance, work & development order, support with police or courts, and advocacy during justice processes.
- Alcohol and Other Drugs – harm-reduction education, referral to specialist services or treatment, and other wellbeing concerns.
- Family Relationship – assist with family conflict, peer relationship issues, and building support networks.
- Accommodation, Tenancy & Homelessness – referral for emergency accommodation, support finding a stable home, help with tenancy, and homelessness prevention.
How it works
- Referral — a young person can be referred by another organisation, by a family member or friend, or can get in touch themselves.
- Eligibility assessment — our youth team checks eligibility during intake and gets to know your needs. Once these are confirmed, the young person becomes a client.
- Commencing support — you are added to our online spaces and contact list, so you receive updates on events the youth team is running.
